8A – Solving The Problem

My solution to the problem of college students easily losing their home or important key when on the go is a fashionable bracelet that has a clip where your key attaches to.  They could come in different shades (gold, silver and rose gold) and be personalized (engraved, charms, etc.) to appeal to people with different interests.  For example, they could personalize their initials, school symbol, sorority symbol, birthstone, etc.  I have been thinking about this idea for a long time and it just came back into my mind when I was trying to think of an opportunity to tackle.

  1. Sydney,

This is an excellent solution to the problem you presented in your previous post! Being able to "wear your key" would certainly make the key much more conveniently accessible and difficult to lose. I also enjoy that you've fleshed out the idea to include personalization and customization. You could even make an orange and blue Gator bracelet and sell it to students on campus. Great idea!

  2. Hi Sydney,

This is a very interesting idea. I think being able to wear your key would ensure that people are less likely to lose their key. I would have to visualize the bracelet in order to get a full picture and think if people would actually wear it. My concern would be that the bracelet would be too bulky to fit a key or if it dangles it may get in the way.

  3. I think this will be a great opportunity. Not only is this a problem with college students but kids of all ages, and it can even be sold at amusement parks for locker keys. My only concern would be in the ability to make it comfortable enough that people would wear it for extended periods of time, or the structural integrity of the bracelet.

  4. Hi Sydney,

I think this is a great idea, especially for females. I think you could takeoff the larger part of the key and put just the zig zag part into the bracelet. There is a pocket knife looking gadget that does something similar to that and I feel like that would get rid of the dangly problem. Would these be custom made on Etsy or mass produced with charms you could buy? Price point?

  5. Hi Sydney,

I love the idea of making the key wearable and customizable. I believe that being able to customize the key makes it a lot more fashionable and innovative. How would the key be placed onto the bracelet so that the key does not fall off? Because sometimes my clip, which I have worn for a long time, does not work with my keychain holder. Also, will there be a GPS locator added to the bracelet?

  6. Hi Sydney,
I love this idea of a fashionable bracelet with a clip for your keys. Maybe the addition of the bluetooth application tile could be worked into this somewhere as an added security. Maybe this bracelet line could be expanded to include a necklace. An additional feature could have it emit a beep or tone when the key is not in place. Nice idea.

    Best,
    Emily
