19A – Idea Napkin No. 2
I enjoy reading through the feedback on all of my blog posts. This time around, I received feedback on my last idea napkin from Zachary, Ramar and Emily. They gave me thoughtful responses and told me what I did well and how it relates to my product. I did not receive any feedback to change anything and I still don't think I would. The only thing I would think about possibly adding or reflecting more on in the future would be Emily's idea of incorporating the men's item line as a belt attachment instead of a bracelet.
I think all of these items fit together because everything about me and my business idea works together and connects very well. If I were to identify a "weak" part, I would say the area where it mainly applies to females over males. I don't think this is necessarily weak because a lot of products are like this naturally, but I think any product is more successful the more people it can reach.

I don't think this is necessarily weak because a lot of products are like this naturally, but I think any product is more successful the more people it can reach.
The two main points I got from my feedback were: First, my "You" section stuck out most to my peers because it reflects my product and is very clear. Second, this is a different thought but the only other common one I noticed--both Zachary and Ramar said they are interested in the same fields as me. I thought this was interesting because we are taking the same class. I would assume all of us taking this class are going into different areas of business with our majors and aspired career fields. I didn't change my idea napkin because all of my feedback was positive and I still stand to everything I originally said.
- You
- I love fashion and I believe I have the ability to see how things fit together really well whether it's jewelry or clothing items. I also love buying gifts for people personalized to what they love and I'm pretty good at picking things out that other people will like. My aspirations are to graduate UF with different internship experiences to hopefully work in the Health Administration field or the IT field. If I were to start my business, I feel like I would love doing it because I love making other people happy so I would see my business as a win-win for myself and the customer
- What are you offering to customers?
- I am offering the customer a fashionable bracelet that they can personalize with things like their school, birthstone, initials or sorority symbol. This bracelet has a specific clip to hold their key for when they are on the go and want to have their key secure and easy in reach, but not on something like a ponytail on their wrist.
- Who are you offering it to?
- I am offering this product to college students nationwide. I see my target market as primarily female, and economically fortunate enough to be able to fulfill their want to buy jewelry but also satisfy the need of having their key safe on their wrist. I think girls in sororities would buy this product a lot more than other college students. I can see myself offering a men's line to also cater to males, but for now-I have made products that I think only females would want to buy.
- Why do they care?
- The customer will want to buy this product because most college aged girls and women in general like buying jewelry and customizing what they own and wear to show what they love and want to represent. A lot of people lose their keys in college especially when going out or being on the go from class to class. Students will put their key on a ponytail on their wrist so it doesn't get lost, but this can ruin a good outfit! So the bracelet not only allows your key to be safe and secure, but also fashionable.
- What are you core competencies?
- First, I have been looking/needing a bracelet like this for years. It wasn't until this class I thought, well let's try to actually make it! A bracelet with all of the features I have described cannot be found on the market currently. I believe my ability to create and personalize things that people love will set me apart from other businesses and products.
Sydney,
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that our feedback was helpful for you!! It seems like you've really taken the advice to heart and incorporated it into your venture. I also like that each of the five sections in this post reflect some aspect of the changes made as a result of the feedback you received - as Dr. Pryor has mentioned repeatedly, the ability to internalize and capitalize on feedback is critical for any aspiring entrepreneur. Awesome post!

Hi Sydney,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you did a great job at taking some feedback into account and addressing it in your venture! I think it is very impressive that you were still able to reflect on it yourself since it seems like the feedback you did receive was primarily positive. I also appreciated the fact that you kept your original napkin idea because you stand by your original thoughts on the matter. Great post!
Hi Sydney,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you took our feedback into account and that you implemented it into your post and business idea. I think it is good practice that you readily receive constructive feedback and you take it and actually use it. Keeping your original idea but also polishing it is a smart idea. I also am doing that with my business product idea. Nice post.
Thanks,
Ramar

ReplyDeleteHi Sydney,
ReplyDeleteI agree that you seem to have a good idea of the need for your product in your target market. Your insight into how your target market already enjoys customized jewelry is a plus to the fact that your piece also offers a needed function--holding onto to the wearer’s keys. The ability for a customer to personalize, or customize their bracelet will make your product more marketable. I understand why you kept your original napkin idea, because you’re already on the right track. Best, Emily
